I live in Fremont. My daughter, Hoi Ue is 14 months old. We just moved from HK to here from 6 weeks. I'm also a 全職媽媽. Nice to meet you.

Thank you. :) I work full time now and put my son in family daycare. He seems to like it there but it's a long commute for me and each day I need to beat the traffic to pick him up.

Do you have a girl or boy? Well, hopefully your baby will be able to sleep over the night within the next few months. :) Then, you may able to get a bit more rest at night. Do you MSN chat? If so, PM me your ID.

My son will be 14 months soon. What's your baby's birthday? How do you like Fremont so far? There are quite a lot of Asian stores/restaurants there so I guess it may be easier to buy stuffs etc. :) Do you have a lot of relatives and friends in the area?

My daughter was born on May 23 2006. Since I just came here, I think Fremont is quite good for family with small children as there are some school nearby which are not bad.

Yeah, there is a supermarket called Lion very close to us. Just 5 minutes walk. More of the chinese fresh food can be found there. Besides, Safeway and Walgreen are also located just opposite to Lion too. So it is very conveinent to live in here.

Most of the relatives of my husband had been immigranted to here. However, I only have one of my friend live in Bay area. Therefore, I would like to join the class in community centre with my daughter. I know there is a class for one year old infant, however, the online registration had been closed. I need to go to the front desk to do the registration on next week.

Your daughter is 2.5 weeks older than my son. Yeah, there are schools (good school district I think) and many daycare available in Fremont area. It's good place for family. It's nice that you can even walk to the store. Very convenient!
What kind of class are you looking for for your daughter? In my area, the local library has some toddler/baby classes (story time, or music etc) for people to join (free). But since I am back to work now, I have no time to go to those classes during weekdays.
There are some music/gym classes from Gymboree (http://www.gymboreeclasses.com/b2c/customer/category.jsp?dept=10) too if you are interested.

P.S. you can try 1 free class at Gymboree before you register for membership etc.

我有返工﹐但仲放緊maternity leave呀。都仲未慣呀... 湊B真係much much much 辛苦'er than working. i'd feel cooped up in the house sometimes.

亞B (仔嚟架)都開始sleep thru the night, but not yet consistent. 上個week就瞓得好好, 好乖﹐but this week he has been waking up every night.

我覺得係度湊B舒復過HK (except the fact that it's easier to hire a maid or nanny in HK),因為靜d同出街都無噤迫﹐大把位你推stroller. 好開心ga! heheh

講起推stroller,你哋同亞B去街通常去邊?我要開始揾下邊d地方係more baby-friendly喇 (like cleaner restrooms for diaper change)。你知la,出街換片好麻煩﹐去restaurant食嘢又驚佢gee gwa gwai chun.

When will your maternative leave end? Yes, I think taking care of a baby at home could be more work than going to work in the office (at least for me!). :) How long have you been in the US and Bay Area?

I 同亞B去街通常去 mall lor. We also go to Trader Joe's, Target etc to buy food and household items. Usually bigger malls have family rooms where you can nurse/feed your baby, change diaper etc. Check out the westfield mall. Where do you live? I usually go to Valley Fair mall and Great Mall because these 2 malls are closer to my house. If you go to valley fair, try to go to the family room downstair by ColdStone Icecream instead of going to the small family room by the food court upstair. The bottom one is bigger and less people. The Oakridge mall in San Jose also has a big family room as well.

For restaurants, you probably can't go to those romatic non-kid family restaurant. :) It also depends if your baby cry a lot or not. When my son was small, we can bring him to restaurant fine and just put him in the infant carrier (car seat) snap on the stoller. Or sometimes just bring the infant carrier to the restaurant if we parked close by. As long as we fed my son and he was not hungry, usually he just sleep/rest in the infant carrier when we were having our meals. BTW, cheesecake factory restaurant is kinda kid-friendly. I can see many people bring small babies and bigger kids there. If your kid is older and can sit in highchair and eat solid food, they bring the kid appetizer out as well (bread & fruits - banana etc). It's pretty nice. Maggiano's (Santana Row) supposed to be family-oriented restaurants but I find it too crowded to bring baby in with the stroller unless you choose to sit outside (not that nice in a cool chilling night). I guess most restaurants would try to comodate your baby (if your baby cry out loud, then you will probably need to carry him out to clam him down though) except for those too romatic-oriented restaurant. :D One time, I even brought my son (less than 3 months old at the time) to Wine Cellar restaurant (Los Gatos) fine. Imagine it's so tight inside with those small little stairs... Anyway, the waiter was very nice and also help us to find a place to put our stroller and we just brought the infant carrier in and put on the booth seat. Most chinese restaurants and buffet places (e.g. Todai) has no problem to bring baby in (if your baby not crying).

時間真係會好快過, 我一直都係 full time take care my daughter. 我仲keep 住breast feeding until now tim. 但可睇住 BB different stages 的development. 真係好難得. I really enjoy and treasure on it. 照顧bb真係唔易, 有時俾個bb攪到團團轉.
冇曬辦法tim. But time flies, you must really enjoy when you are looking back. Just relax, relax and relax. 同埋husband的understanding.
Since I haven't done the driving test, so we only go out within the walkable distance. Like supermarket and park nearby.

My job is fine so far. I am still trying to learn more about he product. It's a complicated one. :) Anyway, my son seems to like the daycare there. I think he likes the dayacare E E and also the kids there. He seems to have a lot of fun there as there are a lot of toys to play and also other kids there too. The daycare area actaully bigger then my house so my son can have more space to climb/cruise/walk over there. They also have a backyard with slides, cars, play houses etc too. So it's good for him to learn his skills there. :)

Anyway, how are you doing lately?

I'm happy to hear that both of you & your son are doing well. My family and I are fine! Now the summer is almost over! I just feel bad for my daughter because we don't have any vacation this summer. My husband and I are very busy this summer so we can't take time off from work.

I can't believe my daughter will be a 3rd grader and my bb son will be attending pre-school in just 3 weeks!

oh, hehee.. thanks for the thought! :D So you were having coffee today? Did you stay in the coffee and had a nice coffee break? :D So which pre-school your son gonna go to? I heard some ppl said I should start line up/register (waiting list) for pre-school. But my son is only 14 months (in 2 days) now. Is it too early to think about that?

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I will move to Palo Alto end of this year and am planning to give birth there next year. I think Palo Alto is quite close to Mountain View and San Jose, so I would like to join you guys at this forum. 請多多指教!

I will immigrant to US with my husband yet my family are all in Hong so I'm quite worry to give birth in Palo Alto without help from my mum and grandma....
