It's the same for my baby. He normally had one hour morning nap, and then around two hours afternoon nap. But when he had morning nap, he wouldn't sleep again until 3 pm and didn't want to wake up at 5 pm, and then delayed the night time sleep.
So I have started to let him play more in the morning, and then let him have congee a bit earlier at around 10:30 am. Then he will sleep at around 11:45am for about two to three hours.
Yes he also wakes up at around 6 something, no matter what time he sleeps at night (normally he sleeps at around 9 pm).
I find that the new pattern is better both for me and the baby.
But of course babies are different, and you will have to explore and find the best way for her.
Forgot to mention one thing, my baby also needs time to adapt the new sleep schedule. He is cranky when he's sleepy while we don't let him have morning nap. Also when he's very sleepy or when we have to go out for lunch, we will let him have morning nap. I think this is the transitional period that we will have to bear.
I have asked my friends, some of their babies have two naps a day until two years old, while some didn't sleep much in the day time after one.
for my baby.. weedays usually he will have 2 - 3 napping times..(about 1-1.5 hours for each)..... regardless of how many napping times.. I will bring him back to the room and get ready to sleep at 8pm every nite (unless we go out that nite)...... So, no matter how much he sleeps during daytime.. he usually will fall into asleep around 8:30pm each nite.
