Hi BF mommies,

Really need your advice. My baby boy is 9 months old. He hasn't gained much weight for the past 3 months, only 5 oz. He was fully BF (direct) baby and eat solid food (mainly rice cereal (add baby formula) and congee. He doesn't eat much meat.

I start giving him supplement these days because he is too light weighted - 15lb 10 oz for 9 months. His birth weight was 6lb 2 oz.

My main concern is I feel he is a little delay in moter skill. He just starts wanting to crawl after 9 months. He still cannot crawl yet.

我估輕+食人奶同唔爬冇關, 因為我細仔係6個月時已9kg, 當時仲係全人奶既, 佢出世先2.93kg. 但到e+差不多10個月都未爬. 扶住他的液下, 他會踏步行. 當然行得不穩

我知道有d bb 係唔爬就行架啦.

你個醫生有無話點解要你停bf？
bb六個月起，便應該開始進食固體食物。固體食物的量應慢慢增加，至一歲左右，便開始成為營養的主要來源。
你bb一日食幾多餐固體，份量如何？
有無在rice cereal或粥之中加入其他材料？

我bb在9個月時，開始一日兩餐固體，每餐一大人碗的粥，裏面一定加有肉(或魚或蛋黃)、菜(或瓜)和potato(或sweet potato或pumpkin)。
以上只是一個參考，不是一定要跟足。但我覺得除左一些易致敏的食物外，都係時候要俾bb食唔同的食物，從中吸收營養

均衡的飲食比飲奶重要。

Hi yanlongma,

his doctor said I don't have much breastmilk after he starts eating solid, so his milk intake is not enough.

I add baby formular in the rice cereal. In congee, I add sweet potato, peas. After 9 months, I add meat as well because doctor asked me why I didn't give him meat.

before I give him baby formular supplement, he ate 2 meals rice cereal and 1 meal congee.

Is milk still the main source of nutritions?

My daugther was light (25 percentile), but she could crawl at 7.5 months old. That's why I didn't concern about her development. However, my son's development seems to be slower. He turns over at 6.5 months and starts to want crawl just this week (9 months 2nd week).

我大仔那時因為我要返工加上唔識可以泵奶，所以在他滿月時便轉了奶粉，但他直到一歲到唔識爬，但已經識行，到了15個月大他才在地或床上爬，所以唔識爬係同食人奶無關的。
現在我細仔5個半月全人奶，他到現在也未識轉身，哥哥唔夠4個月已經識了，唔通又關BF時嗎？梗係NO啦，每個人的發展都有差異的。

真係好睇你自己的信心. 如果你都驚驚地, 咪加奶粉比亞B同繼續BF, 奶粉又唔係有害.

Thanks for your advices. Actually my son's doctor concern was his weight - only 15 lb 10 oz at 9 months. Really out of the curve...

My concern is not crawling. Doctor said even he wants to crawl, he won't have strength because he is too light....

Once I give him formula, my milk supply decreases.

My daughter is 2 years old and she is only 20 lbs. She was solely breastfed until 17 months old, and I added one meal of formula then. Then at 21 months, she weaned completely as I became pregnant. At 17 months old she weighed 18 lbs...so with formula her weight gain was actually slower than on breast.

I think you should try to give your son more meat to build up his muscles. Don't worry about not crawling. My cousin's boy never crawled but walked at 9 months.
