Highly recommend to stay in Disney resort ! Because it saves lots of travel time and you get the magic hours as well. You can choose those Disney budget resort, such as All star, pop century.... but those resorts are kinda old. With the same price, I would suggest you to book Art of Animations. I've stayed there twice and really love it. They have "Cars" theme, "Mermaid", "Lion King" and "Nemo". Both of my kids love it !!!! Also, if you stay in the Disney resort, you can get the "MagicBand" for free, which is a very convenient design function as hotel room key/ fast pass+/ park ticket/payment method. If you are planning to visit Orlando Disney, be sure to book at least 8 months before. Then you can order your customized park map from their official website, book the character dining or popular restaurants 180 days in advance and schedule the fastpass+ 2 months earlier than other visitors. Summer is the worst time to go to Disney, because the parks are packed with people. Besides, every afternoon it's gonna rain like cats and dogs. It's only for a short while though. But remember to bring a rain poncho with you. In addition, it is hurricane season. The best time to go to Disney is actually October/early Nov, as Disney always have promotions and free dining plan. In late Jan and Feb, some of the rides might be closed for refurbishment. So, this is one thing to be considered.
