I am planning to go to Bangkok with kids in July and asked agent to book Spa Package for me at Marriott Resort & Spa but the agent just told me this morning, there will be an international conference (regarding AIDS?) to be held in Bangkok in July, therefore all 5-star hotels have been fully booked or hold for the conference ... is this true?
Has anyone booked already 5-star hotels in Bangkok in July?
I've just checked the web, there is actually such int'l conference in Bangkok for 11-16 July and some programmes afterwards ...
I'm planning to go in mid July, so it seems not possible for me to book any 5-star hotel at that time ... the agent was suggested me to go for Davis since its just a 4 star hotel and with Spa ...
Has anyone stayed at Davis before, is it good or not? Please advise, thanks!
Yes, I've heard that Davis is far away from Stytrain, swimming pool is small and breakfast is not good ... but the travel agent told me, all 5-star hotels are full ... :-(

If the agent said full, u try go into the hotel interest site and book thur internet and see whether it is full or not.
May be your agent do not have good relations with all 5 stars hotel,and maybe is true that the cheapest room is full but not the whole hotel, that why she offer u the Davis. Also, you may check availability thur internet.... Check it yourself first.
Thanks for your advice ... since I've paid deposit (half of package) to the agent, I don't know if I can get it back, but I'll check with them tomorrow to see if there is any nice hotel available for me ... also, if I book the hotel through internet and buy separate tickets, then it will be much more expensive than buying package especially during summer holiday ...
