Does anyone know which international schools in Singapore are more suitable for Hong Kong kids? Our family will likely move there some time next year due to work reasons and we have a child who will be turning 3 years old. Problem is we're not sure how long we'll stay in SG and there is the possibility that we may return to HK after 2-3 years, so I'm worried about transitioning back to HK then. We are not really concerned about which curriculum to follow at this young age. Rather, I'm more concerned about the quality of the teachers and whether the school provides a caring/nurturing environment to young children. Ideally we prefer a school with a stronger Chinese programme, although this is not a must as I'll probably have to teach it at home anyway.
Anyone with similar experience who can share your thoughts or comments? Thanks!!
My boy went to Pat's Schoolhouse before. They have a good Chinese programme, and I found the teachers caring and professional.
By international schools, I assume you mean schools with foreign background like American School or Canadian School. These schools do not have strong Chinese programmes.
Thanks so much for your sharing! Yes, you are right, so far my research is mainly on international schools and I haven't really thought about going to a local kindergarten as I guess it won't be "through-train" and I have no idea how the primary one placement works in SG. But now that you mentioned this perhaps it's another option that's worth exploring! May I know if your child goes on to study at a local primary school after attending PAT's school house? Does he have a smooth transition to primary or is there much "catching up" to do on the academics? I'm hoping to get a sense of their level of academics versus the school's philosophy to learn through play and self-discovery. Does your child enjoy his school life there?
Sorry for all the questions as I'm still not familiar with the education system in SG and honestly am still somewhat confused.... I will definitely research more on this though, but will be grateful too if I can learn more from your first-hand experience at this school. In any case, thanks for replying to my thread :)
