我BB幾個月大返香港，現在3歲，想遲D帶距返悉尼讀小學。聽講悉尼有D精英學校，要提前報名，要考試。請問大家知唔知邊都有各區精英學校的資料？精英學校英文叫咩？大家既小朋友有無讀緊邊間好既推薦下？多謝。

you can do the OC class test on year 4 for year 5 child. And 精英學校 = selective high school. You need to do the test while year 6. Both you can do in primary school.

悉尼北区小学

是否可以介绍一下北区那些小学比较好啊？出了Artarmon, Chatwood，这2个区house的选择是在太少，太贵。

Hi samuellor,
Thank you for your explanation. I would like to have my children to study high school in Sydney after finishing F.3 in Hong Kong (year9).

Is it possible to join the year 10 in those fully or semi selective school?

If not, any suggestion for the independent school or private schools (boy or coedu) in Sydney with budget around 24K per annum.

Did all moms send their kids to "learning centre" in Year 3 to prepare for the OC class and selective school?

My children goes to Denistone East Public School.

A lot of children from Asian families do have extra tuitions on weekends etc.

I personally think it depends on the child
- my daughter (yr 5 this year) is not a high preformer academically, can't sit still and very social. So we have decided not to have extra tuition for her and let her develop in other ways.
- my son (yr 2 this year) is the opposite. But due to his health & behaviour issues, we have decided to help him ourselves.

My girl is studying Year 3 now, although she likes to read storybook very much and the English is not bad, but I always find some grammer mistakes on her essay, so just wonder if it is better to let her to have extra tuitions for English.

Talk to her teacher, and ask them to recommend someone.
I know of some teachers who also does private tuitions outside school hours.
My daughter's current teacher does that - specializes in creative writing and public speaking, both are very good for students from other countries.
Unfortunately for kids at our school, Denistone East has a policy of not allowing teachers to provide private tuition for students at the same school.

借問一下, 如果我地下半年過去澳洲, 小朋友可以中途入學嗎? 還是要等明年1月尾新一年度入學呢?

Your child can start during the year. Talk to your local school to arrange this.
