I just extended the 4th contract with my helper, she likely will stay for a year only as her family wants her to go home end of 2009. Before we extended the contract she asked me if I could pay her the first six years of long service, so I called the labour department to check if it is lawfully allowed. The labour department advised us not to pay her in advance coz by law if the helper resign on her own, she's not entitle to long service payment. This strikes us as a surprise as we have always assume helper always entitles to long service after 5 years of service. In any case we have long decided to pay her long service so this makes no difference to us. We will pay her the first 6 years of long service now and the remaining when she leaves.
Have I not explained clearly?
