It's fine to bring the maid along as I think actually the employer will need the maid to take care of the kid or elderly and maybe to carry the luggages, etc. Not really letting them to relax or rest. Also, just like my mother-in-law, she doesn't want the maid to stay at home alone (don't know what the maid will do), that's why she will also bring her to travel.
