1. 暖壺(載粥仔)上機:usually can't but sometimes HK airport is a little bit more relax ~ check with airline and they will have babyfood jar ordered for BB. But you can also let your BB try some babyfood jar b4 you fly to make sure he likes the taste and you bring those on the plane for BB to eat.
2. You can ask for hot water on the plane as the water is boiled, it is sterilised anyway and you can't bring a hot water flask onto the plane anyway. For cold water, you need to help your BB to adapt to another type of water between HK and abroad. Some mums will take some HK water with them and use it during the trip. Personally I think it is not hygienic as water from the tap is best use with 24 hours once it is drawn from the tap. I will start mixing BB's milk using bottled mineral water (find a brand which you can buy both here in HK and NZ) a few days b4 the trip so that you don't have to take too many with you. When you arrive at NZ, use the bottled water to mix with local water and reduce the amount of bottled water over a few days to let BB get used to the local water completely.
Have more sterilised bottles/teats ready as it is troublesome to clean/sterilise them on the plane.
Some extra extra clothing/blankets handy in case BB sicks or plane gets delays or lost luggage.
Dummies for BB to suck during take-off and landing so that the ear don't feel less uncomtfortable.
Bring BB's favorite toys and extra snacks for the plane ~ if he can't sleep, you need to keep him occupied...
Some friends bring along emergency medicine and thermometer onto the plane as well.
i heard about similar experience about 英國檢查but what about babyfood jars are not opened? Still need to open and taste, then it is not hygienic lor? A friend needed to finish all the hot water from the flask at the customs as it is always no hot water to be taken onto the plane!

I brought my 13 months' old baby back home to HK from France (needed to make flight connections - about 16 hours) last October. My baby didn't suffer from jet lag but he couldn't eat well during 2 weeks. During the first week, he slept a lot - day and night.
