i saw this nikon d90 on ebay and it comes with lots of accessories including 5 lenses, filters, tripods and even tutorial dvd. it's USD$1200 or ~HKD$9600 (i live in us so shipping is free).

do you think it's a good deal since i heard it's about HKD$8500 for the body and only 1 lens. please give me some suggestions. thanks....

Please be award that the so-call 5 lens included is actually 3 lens only. 2 Tamron lens and 1 Nikon Prime lens (50mm/1.8).

The 2 other "lens" is actually converter (One wide angle and One 2x converter). We usually don't use these on DSLRs.

I cannot conclude if other items suit you or not, but I think it would be a quite good start (meaning you might find not satisfy with some items sometime later) package.

To me, it's price is not expensive, if you are just talking about their market value. However, most of the items won't not be useful for me. (I would only take the D90 body, Nikon 50/1.8, the memory cards and may be the card reader.

Just from my 2 cents, hope you find it useful.

thanks a lot!! i just realized that the lenses included are "tamron" lenses. is it a type of lens or a brand name? if i buy the nikon body, is it really important that i use nikon lens only? there're other listings for "sigma" lens too, are those comparable to the nikon ones? how about the filters? do you use those a lot?

i think i won't use most of the stuff included in the package too, but it's just really attractive to receive so many items for the price...

"Tamron" and "Sigma" are brand names. They are also lens developers. Normally, They are cheaper than their similar Nikon lens.

I prefer Nikon lens in most of the case, but some lens from these brand can also produce an alterative for ppl with a more affortable price.

Filter - never use it except for
1) extreme condition like raining, beach or snowing

2) very expensive lens (<8~9k)

thanks simar, as a newbie i don't think i need that many lens. i notice most of the kits include the 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G VR, do you think it's enough for every day use? isn't the 光圈 pretty small and can't produce the "clear front and blurry background" effect? is there a better lens than this?

唔係"most of the kits include the 18-105mm", 例如D60 係18-55, 18-105mm呢支係D90 kit 鏡, 它可以應付一般生活相.
用60mm 以上加最大光圈都可以做到景深效果.

ebay 那套機可以不理啦, 二支tamron 鏡+二個converter. 另外運費也不會平.

Sorry babytomato, just see your question here.

I think the 18-105 kit lens for D90 covered the most useful range. It also have "VR", which could help reduce hand shake. In other forum, most comment are quite positve for this lens.

In relation to the clear object blur background, I also agreed, you can get a prime lens to cover that. As a starter, you can consider the famous 50mm f1.8 lens, which is cheap but can easily produce such picture.

In short, your shopping list should included D90 Kit-set plus a 50mm f1.8 lens.

thanks all, i ordered the d90 kit (not from ebay) and it came yesterday!! i just figured that i don't have an SD card so i need to buy one before i can try out the new camera :;pppp:

i definitely want a 50mm lens, and maybe the sb600 flash, and will buy them in hk when we come back in march. can you suggest places that have good prices?

just happened to check on the nikon school website and they've new classes in march!! i signed up for the one on march 18th in mongkok (only one that has availablilty) so excited and looking forward to learning more about my new baby.....

i ordered from j&r.com for the kit, it's $1070 after rebates from live.com. no shipping and tax. i checked ritz camera too and it's a little bit more $.

did you get any accessories for your camera?

i got 7% rebate from live.com, it takes about 2 months to get it. i use ebates a lot too, esp. on the magazine deals...

thanks for the link yingying's daddy, this is very useful. i saw the 50mm f/1.4d is about $1500 more than the f/1.8, and there's also f/1.4g which is even more $$$, is the difference in photo quality really obvious? does it worth to pay that much more for the f/1.4?
