Fully agreed. I observed 2 overweight colleagues lost 20 and 30 lbs quickly in 1st 2 months but they are really overweight (female , 156cm , 150lbs; male , 180cm , 190lbs) . But once they resume some (not normal) carb diet , they gained back 8kg and 10kg . It’s not long lasting unless u want to cut carbohydrates completely for entire life .
I think Low carb plus exercise is better option . I lost my first 30 lbs from exercise and then I reached plateau and changed to low carb (42g net carb per day) and lost another 10 lbs
