Any recommendation for good phonics class ? I want to find a long term & full set of phonics class (not a few months one !) for my daughter approaching 4.
My daughter went to Jimmy's English courses and she was accepted by DGS in 2004. I think that the teaching material is important but the teacher is even more significant.
I don't think phonics can be taught at home unless a parent is a native speaker. To learn English is relatively easier and phonics is like a refinement course to teach a child to speak with proper style and accent. It defeats the purpose if the teacher does not command the accent.
Phonics also stengthen a child's spelling power, I never had to revise English unseen dictation for my girl since she can work out most of the spelling because of her phonetic skills.
Work hard and "Add-Oil"!!! Be selective of English teachers.
