my son having such matter on april also but doctor said is hand foot mouth desease.
on that time, i let my son to eat vanila ice-cream to resolve his pain n hunger. also rub doctor's medicine into his mouth as much as 1time/hr. dont stop even he cry. he will get well very soon.
that is reasonable if ur son cant drink or eat. use a spoon to feed him water. he ll feel more comfortable than using a bottle.
dont worry...sick is the road for kids to grow up. my son can speak more words, fed himself, drink himself(with cup) n have afternoon nap without rock after he get well from the sick. ya...forgot to tell u my son is 1 year 9 months old now.

I will try your method to feed him some water. However, regarding to the medicine i think he will not follow my instruction/order to eat with spoon and run away. How can you do that?
Herpangina should not be treated with antibiotics. It will heal up with time. Just maintain good hydration, pain relief is enough. No medicine, western or chinese, have been shown to speed it up.
