It depends on your purpose, remember it gets quite inexpensive to buy a printer but it could be very expensive to run it. Before you buy a printer, you must first find out the price for the ink / toner, and how many pages can that ink / toner cartridge print.
To me, I do not need a printer. It gets very cheap to print digital photos professionally at the printshop. (It is actually cheaper than printing photos at home.) I rarely need to print any personal document but if I do, I can do it at the office. So I don't need a printer.
It is another story if you run a home office.
