My younger boy (aged 8) jumped 1 year. My friend's son was a year 5 student in HK, had jumped 1 year to start year 7 at a grammar school in Slough.
My younger boy was confirmed to be 'Gifted' when he was 5 while us in Australia. But since we now live in a small town in Devon, we are doing the 'Extention' work ourselves at home rather than spending too much time in travelling to and from cities just for the conference/workshop/activity, which to me personally, is more like 'Gimmicks' and therefore does not provide REAL benefits. After all, High IQ is only 1 out of 16 of what I call 'Essentials' to ensure a Happier & More Successful Life.
Meanwhile, you may also wish to have a look of the website, www.mensa.org.uk. My younger boy was recently accepted as a member, based on the Prior Evidence - IQ Assessment complied by an Educational Psychologist and A Gifted Education Co-ordinator while us in OZ . A UK aged 11 girl recently had offers from a few private schools due to her high IQ. Please refer to the following link,
Hello, 我 hubby 已經去咗 London for Internal Job Interview. St. Albans coz they have excellent schools there. St. Albans. Thanks again.
What I heard from my friend is that St Albans is an old town and the schools there are very good. My friend's child is studying at a Private girl school there. My friend has to drive 45 minutes each way from her home to there, so I think the school is very very good.
I used to have a friend who lived there. She said she takes only half an hour from St. Albans to London. She said it is a lovely place to live.
You have to move to the school catchment for applying a school place. If the school is popular, you child may be put on a waiting list, but don't worry, the county council will find you a school place.
My daugher's school has a special arrangement for G&T(Gifted and talented). The teacher will spend extra time for those G&T children.
Thanks Kitchu. St. Albans, probably an hour away from London (I think it really depends on where you live). 2nd closest school.
Thanks.
