I only try apple, banana, pears since 6 months, what other fruits can i give to my bb? I know that i cannot give her oranges until 1 year old coz it will easily causes allergy.
does you baby know how to chew yet? if yes, then just cut blueberry to tiny pieces and feed her.
if not, then boil the blueberries in little bit of hot water, just to soften the skin, and you can easily mash them.
also if you are not buying organic blueberry, remember to wash thoroughly and soak in water for some time to remove pesticides. i usually soak it in water (add a teaspoon of baking soda, heard that it helps to dissolve pesticides) then rinse well and lightly rub those before giving to baby.
some big parknshop carry organic blueberry and i think citysuper and threesixty carry too. i only buy organic occasionally, cause it's very expensive. but when using ordinarily blueberry, i will wash and soak thoroughly first.
no need to remove the skin of blueberry, its where the pigment is and is most nutritious.
i haven't tried dragon fruit. i guess just let your BB has a little bit first and see if any allergic reaction.
my BB has tried many types of fruits and vegi, so far only has mild reaction to eggplant.
I tried the dragon fruit yesterday. She cannot swallow the seed. so i stop it immediately. I will try the plum as suggested by the website provided by you. Did you steam the plum first?
no, i just remove the skin of plum and puree it when my bb is small.
i only cook harder fruit, like apple, and blueberry because i want to keep the skin which is hard if not cooked.
my bb is 9 months old now and knows how to chew, so i just chop to tiny pieces now.
yeah, i change to 2 congee when shes 8 month, and 1/2 oatmeal 1/2milk for breakfast when shes 8.5 months as she seems hungry.
congee is usually soup base + one protein (lean pork, chicken, fish and occasionally beef) + one to two vegetable (sweet potato, corn, tomato, choi sum leaf, bak choi leaf, hairly melon, winter melon, chayote, onion, mushroom, occasionally pumpkin/carrot/squash)
but is milk the main source of food for bb before age 1? so i am thinking whether i should introduce two congees to my daughter only at month 8, coz i only add veggie (two types of veggie) into the congee, will try to blend the meat and put it into the congee later.
yes, the instruction in baby milk powder said about 2-3 servings of milk for 6months+
i held from elderly that if baby eats one congee meal with no problem, can consider changing to 2 congee. i asked the nurse at health center, and they said the latest to introduce 2 solid meals is 9 months. so you choose the best option for BB. but need to add meat to congee, iron is important for BB.
my BB has 2.5 servings of milk, around 500-600ml per day, so that should be ok.
really thanks for your advice. What milk brand is your bb drinking? mine is drinking Friso milk and she doesn't like drinking milk since month3, this morning she only drinks 1 oz milk, but if i feed her with bread, she eats lor, then i feed her cereal (coz not ready to boil congee so early), she eats lor. ai.... i tried to change the milk power to another brand, still no use.
my BB has a problem with milk around 2-3 months too. she used to love milk but began to hate it around 2-3 months. also because it was difficult to buy milk powder at that time, so i changed a few brands at that time and find out that she had no problem with hipp or holle and had been drinking those until around 6-7 months and changed to No 2 formula.
does you BB like cereal with milk? have you tried adding banana to milk? those are good breakfast choices too.
tell me more... please, what is hippo and holle, is it organic milk power??
For the cereal, if i add the milk into it, she will not eat it. but if i add the water into cereal, she will eat it up. What is banana milk? tell me more, please
yes they are organic brands from europe, available in three sixty & sogo, although the price is much more marked up there. (the norse association and a number of upper level BB shops carry the product, but those are far from my home) so, i just bought one box at three sixty for baby to try and see if she likes and the boo boo is good first. then buy from elsewhere that is cheaper and will deliver, but need a bulk order. the taste of holle milk smell more 'milky' and rich, while hipp smell more bland, maybe because of the addition of DHA oil.
my BB loves sweet fruit, so if i add fruit to a meal she is more willing to eat and likely to eat more. if your bb loves any fruit or vegi, try to add a little bit milk to the mashed food and see how she likes it. but make sure the mixture taste ok and not too strange.
i went to bumps to bb and see these two brands: hipp or holle, but i find out that holle does n't add omega 3 & 6 while Hippo added. So is Hippo better? but i wanna buy the hippo and i find out that the box states that it contains milk, fish and sth else (i forgot), coz my bb doesn't try the fish ,so should i buy hippo?
i don't know which one is better, but both are organic & adhere to WHO standard, and hipp has added dha (that is why it has fish as ingredient, which is used to extract the omega 3 oil). i guess omega 3 oil is different from directly eating fish, and it should be safe, if your BB is already taking milk that has omega 3.
so if you want your BB to take in omega 3, then probably you should choose hipp.
my BB is having salmon congee 3 times a week, so its not important whether the milk has added omega3.
