I was also thinking to buy either one of these two models. I am using a more professional DC and a Video Camera and they are both Canon. They are good, so I am sort of go for Canon at the early stage.
But after a long considerate and research done, FX9 is better than Cannon 750. However, at the same time, Sony just have this DCS-N1 out for pre-order sale and price is not much different from FX9 and it is 8M pix. So now I go for Sony. Hope it can help you.
Canon is good
Panasonic is good too since it is using the LEICA lens (which is an excellent lens producer from Germany)
Besides, the Optical Stabilizer function is very useful when shooting Christmas night scene and night scene with portraits.
Canon is good but seems like this time FX9 is better on picture quality. Have a look on the following site and you can compare the quality.
