Technically u can do it. But practically will it work ?
Assume the visa pass soon expire. But they reject to renew. Before u appeal, u need to send yr son back to HK. Then yr son has to stop study.
Assume everything work well, but yr son grow up and and want to work in singapore. He need to get employer to apply work visa for him.
If he want to get PR when he grow up, govt might reject because he did not 當兵.
We are smart but Singapore govt is not stupid. 不像香港阿貓阿狗都可以be HK citizen (sorry I unlike big6)
I think the more practical way is give birth in HK , get HK ID. Then get PR in Singapore. If they really don't want 當兵, give up PR and go back HK. Never go back Singapore .
Personally, I like boy got 當兵 experience. I work in HK and Singapore and found Singapore boy more mature then HK one.
My son is born here and still can get HKID and passport. Just wonder if we should apply for his PR. like you said, if in the end he decided not to 當兵,he would have to not return to Singapore again to work as they would 'black listed' him and not approve his work permit. That's what an HR person has told me.
1. Currently the older brother is in private childcare. We intend to put the younger son to the same childcare when he's older. When they reach primary, we would consider putting them to local school if we are still here. The older son is already PR. (cos didn't know we can do the long term pass) now we wonder if we should do the same for the younger.
2. I personally would still want to move back to HK but we don't have concrete plans on when we can/would go back. However, I think I probably would not be here for another 10 years?!
Thanks for your reply. Where can I get more info on this apart from MOE website? Does it mean that unless he's a citizen it would be difficult to get into good local school? Whether he is PR or foreigner, it would be similar?
However, I think he can only apply tone citizen if either parent is citizen? We are both PR.
