$3500.
Interview: phone interview and home visits.
Questions: all about duties, safety, like everyday eating, bathing, sleeping, seeing doctors, arranging special events (depends on your family situations).
Duty time, holiday, etc. How to pay, when to pay, etc.
Actually I called several baby-sitters and $3500 is the most expensive one. I decided finally to pick this one up because of several reasons. 1. She gave me the confidence with her initiative. She talked a lot about her working experience and her family. That means she is not a selfish person. 2. She is responsible because she explained the consequences to me for taking care of BB and what BB may likely to happen in the time of being taken care of. 3. She questioned me instead of my questioning her e.g. his past experience in eating and health. When she took up the job, my son was 12m. It's not new born.
4. She clearly requested salary, bonus, holidays, time of duty, etc. No confusion.
5. She invited my son to visit her before her taking up the job so as to see if he likes her and her living environment.
We sat and talked well before the start of the babysitting time. Since then, I've happily paid her twice and my son is being taken care of her. Though in the first month, me son got fever, she even took her time to visit my son in the hospital. I think she's like those moms who really love kids. One of the best areas is that she is a Chinese, a HK Chinese, knows to make suitable meals and soups for kids. She always reminds me to prepare things for my son. Isn't it so good? $3500 may not be too high, but reasonable, I think.
