Venture was promoting at the HK Education Expo. The photos are really nice (but they don't have photos of any chinese family - except some movie star. Any body tried their service? They don't have a price list so I am concerned about the fee that they charge. Thank you
I bought a package from Venture in February at the price of HK$500 during its roadshow in Queensway. It includes a shooting session of one hour, a preview session of one hour and a gift photo with plain frame of 7"x5".
At the time of purchase, I have asked for a price list but was told by the sales that the price list was not ready since Venture will only open in March. She assured me that the price will be around several hundreds to several thousands. It however turned out that the cheapest photo of 7" x5" with a better frame will cost you 3,300 and an album with 10 photos of 5"x7" will cost you 13,300. You cannot get the film back anyway but I am much surprised by the price.
Frankly speaking, I am not quite satisfied with the photos taken. Maybe they are trying to teach new photographers on the techniques of taking shots with the promotional package. Finally I only chose 1 photo without extra cost but got an upgrade from 7"x5" to 10"x8" since the preview session had been delayed for an hour with my whole family waiting.
Thank you for sharing. The cost is so expensive. I also asked them for the price list on Sat but they said they do not have a 'fixed' price list as everything is tailormade. I asked how many photos woud I get if I pay several thousand dollars. The sales said I would get 'quite a lot'. If that is the case, perhaps, I should get a refund.
Are they pushing during the preview session> Very hard sell and give you long face?
I do not plan to spend over HK$10,000 on these photos so I am very concerned now.
They do have a price list but that list will only be given to you after you have finished the shooting session. The price list is well printed and I cannot see why they cannot be made available upon request.
As an example, they have three main themes including Innovations, Life and Collections. The Innovation range includes selection of Ice and Metro, the cheapest among them is HK$6,000 for a three block pack of three 5"x5" photo. The cheapest of the Life range is $3,700 with an image size of 7"x5" and frame size of 11"x9". The Collection range is the most expensive one with price ranges from $14,350 to $22,800. An ice block of 16 photos removable and replaceable, which I like most, costs you $33,930. You can get a 10% discount when you place an order in the preview session.
The sales introduced the price list as a price indication only and of course they can tailor made any combination or design to suit your need. They emphasize that they are selling their style and design to add life to your home and your experience in the whole process.
Luckily, they are not pushing during the preview session. First, the foreign sales who should also be a senior photograher himself (as I recognize him from an introduction in a magazine as the photographer for shooting a celebrity's family in Hong Kong) presented a slide show with music. Then he would ask you whether to keep a picture or drop it. When you have selected some pictures among the whole collection, you will then be left to have some discussions among your family members and the sales then returned and asked you for your decision. I had asked him if I could keep the picture for the time being so that I can place an order later on. He said that if I had chosen to keep any image, the image would be kept for three years and you could order it at any time during the three years. Unselected items would then be deleted. The sales himself is very nice and had not shown any signs of dislike when I finally chose only to take the photo that come with the package.
Last week when I saw the same roadshow in the Queensway again and noticed some interested guy like me, I have once thought that I should give an advice and warning to them. In fact, I am thinking of giving a comment to Venture asking them to include their price list as an indicative price to customers at the time of promotion.
Please let me know if you require any other information to prepare for the session.
I see she has a roadshow (promoting $500 for 1 photo) at Taikoo Shing MTR station now. Originally, I plan to have a look tomorrow. However, after getting comment from all of you, i won't approach the counter. It's too expensive.
Thank you for the detailed information. Now i have a much better idea of the service and price. There is an obvious discrepancy between what the sales told me and the reality. I will reconsider and may get a refund. But if they are not hard sell, than paying HK$500 to get one framed photo sounds a good deal. Thanks again for sharing.[quote]
