Want to take my 4 years old son to ski in Hokkaido this winter. Do you know where I can find beginner ski course for kids? Also, will it be very difficult to go by ourself ( since it's snowing and will be very cold).
There is one indoor rotating carpet centre in somewhere between Fortress Hill MTR and Tin Hau MTR called Slope Infinity but it's rather expensive. Check it out, especially the short videos, yourself at www.slope8.com.
Hokkaido hv different ski resort. I think the famous is Niskeo
and the other one is 留壽都
but accommodation in 留壽都 is more expensive.
I use to ski in Niseko, for coming CNY, I wl bring my 4 yrs old girl to ski in Niseko and this is her 1st time to ski.
Personaly, I like Niseko more than 留壽都.
You are right, the snow quality and quantity is not enought in 輕井澤.
What I know that the best snow in Japan is in Sapporo(Niesko).
By the way, did you plan to go to 輕井澤 for ski? I think it is a good area as it close to Tokyo, good location for eating and shopping
This is the reason I like Japan.
My first skiing experience was in Japan's Club Med and was OK as being taught by a native English speaking coach but when I tried to ride snowboard, only a Japanese coach was available. When my daughter was almost 3, we took her to Korea for skiing which was quite a disaster as it's very difficult for her to move around in bulky clothes and heavy ski boots. We will go to Whistler the coming Chinese New Year and in order to make the trip more enjoyable, I let her tried that indoor establishment which should help a lot before facing any severe weather if you really want your kid to learn skiing at early age at whichever resort.

Sorry I mean which Hokkaido ski resort is best for kids.
I'm planning to go to Karuizawa on New year with my 3.5 years old son. He loved to play with snow. We went to Hokkaido for the last two years. I checked some information which I hope it may be useful for you.
1. the ski centre will be opened on Nov 1. The ski centre is already started to make snow by the machine since mid October.
2. The average snow depth is not so much on December but it snows a lot on January.
3. Karuizawa is a good place for ski, eating and shopping since there is one big outlet nearby Prince hotel.
I pass by Professinal tourist agent last SUnday. They said ski in Nagano is good, about $1100 per person one day accommodation with bus transort from Tokyo. The place is called ' Chi Zhi Pin' - I cannot type Chinese in this computer. Any coment?
Does anyone know whether there is any English speaking ski coach for kids in Naeba, 苗場, in Tokyo? Has anyone been to there skiing? Is it good? I want to go during Christmas. Any other facilities there besides skiing? Any close shopping center of hot spring bath etc?
We took our 2 kids to Club Med in Hokkaido during Feb this year and my son joined thier kids club throughout the stay, he had a great time, the kids there can learn skiing, and do other activities indoor and outdoor, he even won a medal for making the best snowman!! But the location is a bit inconvenient because you have to take a 2 hours train ride from Sapporo.
I am now planning to go to 輕井澤 as it only takes a total of 1.5hr from Kleo Plaza Toyko. It is much more convenience as I am bring my 4 yrs old daughter. Can someone tell me how I can arrange a native English speaking coach for my daughter? I am planning to go in around 19th Dec. Does anyone know whether it starts snowing? The staff from Cathay Pacific said it should has be snowing and that why the package is out so late this year. The package includes all the transportation from KleoPlaza hotel to 輕井澤 Prince Hotel, plus 1.5 days ski pass and it is around $7xxx per person. Is it expensive? Can someone tell me more about skiing in 輕井澤? How many days are recommended to stay in 輕井澤Prince Hotel? Will 2 or 3 nights enough or too many? Any other facilities in the ski field?
