Driving license

Dear all,
May I ask if Hong Kong Driving License can use in Australia?

I also want some details on get a driving license in Australia.
1. is there any recommendation for driving lessons in Sydney?
2. Normally how much for a course?
3. How long does it take?
4. Is it easier to pass in Australia than in HK?

I just wonder whether I should get a license in HK first or take the lessons in Australia.

Hi ptsamm,

Holders of driver's licence of several countries (UK, US, Singapore etc) can be exempt from the driving test. Unfortunately, HK is not on the list.

Please click here for information. This is the Queensland Transport Dept web site. May be you can go to NSW's Transport Dept's web site and have a look, in case there is any difference in the requirements between the states.

I'm afraid I can't help you with your other questions regarding Sydney as I'm in Brisbane.

I applied the Prospective Marriage Visa to come to Australia to marry my fiance. According to the condition of the visa, I had to arrive in Australia and get married within 9 months after the visa was granted.

I did that all within a very short time span .... submitted application in late Jan 2003, interviewed in mid March, got visa in early June, left for Australia in early July and got married in mid August
