We just went to Nobu for dinner tonight coz it's my mom's B-day....
we've heard so much about it ... that it was supposed to be famous and the reservation list at the New York or LA restaurant was about 1 month...
I made reservations last week and they told me the restaurant was FULL and if I really wanted I could have the 6:00-8:30pm table.... okay, we agreeed.
then, they needed a credit card guarentee at $200 per person... okay, I did that!!! then, the b-day cake.... they said they would charge $60 per person... so if I had 8 person, I'll need to orfer 8 x$60... i told them that 2 of us won't eat dessert... becuase they don't like dessert.. but they said... no way, must order 8 portions if i had 8 person!!!!
so with all expectation, we went tonight and found the restaurant wasn't even FULL ... Plus, the food wasn't that great... some of the dishes were even disappointing.... the menu was confusing..
Anyway, the check came out to be about $1000 per person... let's put it this way, I wouldn't go again.,.. even if it's FREE!!!!!
I am sorry that the dinner didn't turn out as expected especially it was mom's birthday. May I ask what have you ordered and what is the "disappointed" dish?
Yes, with $1000 per person... I could have gone almost anywhere... like Felix!
The hot dish was really disappointing... like there was one ... something like " mui Choi" steam squid!
I can't believe it!!
their specialty sashimi was okay.. just that most of them use the same " dressing" and taste the same.
Anyway, I wouldn't go again.. and if you should try, must not expect too much.. . maybe that's better!
