I lived in New Hankyu Hotel at Umeda station. The price is reasonable and it's close to the Osaka station/ umeda station. But it's rather old and small.
My friend/ sister in law lived in swissotel hotel at namba station. it's comparatively new and convenience to shopping area/ restaurant. And also it's convenience to take JR train at Namba station to Kyoto/ Nara/ Kobe...
I already came back from Osaka last week, I lived in Nikko Osaka Hotel (L Floor - which is the renewal floor), because new renewal, it's excellent, I booked the standard double room, not the semi-double, my baby sleep very well (22 months), the room have a sofa and LCD TV, the toilet are quite big, although expensive but I think it worth, especially if you go with your baby, my husband said next time when we go to Japan we still prefer Nikko Osaka.
PS: The hotel location excellent if in rainy day, it no need to be wet la....the hotel have a lift in lobby which is downstair to basement 2 and it's DARMARU....and the JR Station, this is the main reason we choose Nikko Osaka!!
One last thing, I have tried many agents to book the Nikko Osaka Hotel but failed, such as asiarooms and egltours...etc...so I booked the room directly from the hotel in their homepage and they will send a email letter to you and their efficiency is great!! They even prepare the congee for my baby each morning which is only cost $200 yen, reasonable I think!!
The most impressive thing is they no need to pay the payments first, even print out any hard copy such as the reservation form or e mail, they only need to show your guest name only and they have arrange the rooms before the date you arrived, very good, the process of check in only 5 minutes, excellent, and the other impressive thing is during the 6 days I stayed in hotel, all is local people (Japaneses), no other chinese or tourist, so that is the reason why many agents can't booked the hotel for me.
The price of the Nikko Osaka Hotel which is depends on the date you give when you make the reservation on their homepage, like mine, I stayed there 5 nights and the price which is $18,000,19,000 x 2, 22,000 and the last night is 17,000, which depends on the date.
Of course if you made the payments when you check out (they did the payments for me on my checkout day), it would be depends on the yen fluctuation.....
