fertilisation is the process which the sperm enters the ovum. There is billions of sperm everytime during ML.. the fusion of the two (sperm/ovum) is by chance. The sperm need to swim hours to where it might meet the ovum.. and ,I would say, most of the time, they missed each others. It is not an easy journey! Moreover, after they met each others, it doesnt means things will become smooth. Sometimes growth is terminated by itself.. sometimes there is problem in implantation.. it's just not that easy! When I was studying reproduction.. my professor said, the theoretical chance of getting pregnant is smaller than you win Mark-six! (but in reality, getting pregnant is easier than winning mark-six) :tongue:
