I just want to say everyone has their own method of teaching. Me and my hubby are also trying our best not to 體罰 Katrina, as we really do not enjoy watching her cry at all either. We only hit her when it's absolutely necessary, e.g., she was doing something potentially really dangerous like sticking her finger into an electric fan, trying to put small or sharp objects into her mouth or ear like mahjong chips or spoon. She can usually stop when my husband said very sternly "No" or "Stop" and like Denise said - staring sharply at her (瞪眼). She will cry out loud for 15 seconds and then stop when she finds out no one else has a second opinion that it is "acceptable behavior".
